พลอยใจ ปิ่นตบแต่งสำเร็จการศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรี (เกียรตินิยมอันดับหนึ่ง) เอกวรรณคดีภาษาอังกฤษ โทรัฐศาสตร์ จากจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ปริญญาโทด้านความคิดทางสังคมและการเมือง (Social and Political Thought) และปริญญาเอกด้านประวัติศาสตร์ภูมิปัญญาจากมหาวิทยาลัยซักเซกส์ เคยเป็นอาจารย์ประจำสำนักวิชาการเมืองการปกครอง มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ก่อนจะเริ่มงานที่คณะมนุษยศาสตร์ ใน พ.ศ. 2565 ปัจจุบันพลอยใจสอนและทำวิจัยเกี่ยวกับประวัติศาสตร์ภูมิปัญญาและประวัติศาสตร์ความคิดทางการเมือง เน้นประเด็น ประวัติศาสตร์รัฐธรรมนูญ สาธารณรัฐนิยม โครงการวิจัยชิ้นต่างๆล่าสุดมีจุดมุ่งหมายร่วมกันคือการจัดวางประวัติศาสตร์ความคิดการเมืองไทยในฐานะส่วนหนึ่งของประวัติศาสตร์ภูมิปัญญาสากล ตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2568 พลอยใจเป็นหนึ่งในกองบรรณาธิการของวารสาร Global Intellectual History
Ployjai Pintobtang
I am an Assistant Professor of Intellectual History and the Chair of the Doctoral Programme in History at Chiang Mai University, Thailand. I hold a Ph.D. in Intellectual History from the University of Sussex, funded by the Higher Education Commission of Thailand. My doctoral dissertation examines the reception of Jean-Louis Delolme's work, with a focus on the relationship between executive power and modern liberty after the American War of Independence on both sides of the Atlantic.
My current research explores the global dimensions of Thai political and constitutional thought. I have co-edited a monograph on Rousseau and contributed a chapter on Rousseau's influence on Thai constitutionalism (Palgrave Macmillan, 2023). I am a British Academy Visiting Fellow 2025 at the University of Sussex. The collaborative research project explores British utilitarianism in the Age of Siamese Reform. Since 2025, I also serve on the international editorial board of the Journal of Global Intellectual History. In 2025-2026, I am a course instructor for HIST004 for the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life, Tufts University, under the Tufts Civic Semester programme.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I am a columnist for Thai PBS Policy Watch, where I analyse issues related to constitutional amendments and the global aspects of national constitutions.
